Well done to our Y5/Y6 cricketers and netballers!
Our A team cricketers came first in a competition on Monday and will now go on to represent South Tyneside at the North of England Championships in July.
Our A and B team netballers played today in the final of the league. They have been competing weekly since Christmas and both qualified to play in the final tournament held today at Temple Park. The A team triumphantly won the league.
Well done to all our girls and boys who have competed this week. All these individuals, plus the other children on the team who were unable to play in the finals, work hard with their teachers on lunch times and after school to perfect their skills and tactics.
We are always very impressed by your achievements, but your behaviour, excellent sportsmanship and attitude when representing the school is second to none. Great work! (more…)
Congratulations to Mr Smith and his young engineers who attended a competition with their goblin car at Nissan Race Track yesterday.
Great fun was had by all. The car, which reaches a top speed of 15 mph, came second in a slalom competition out of 20 cars.
Mr Smith and the children have dedicated many hours of work towards yesterday’s competition.
Well done to all! (more…)
Well done to Miss Anderson’s class who won the week 4 rapping fitness challenge last week. As part of this challenge they had to create and perform a rap while skipping – not an easy task!
Great dedication is being shown by all students and staff involved, only 2 weeks left so keep stepping.
Congratulations to our chess club, they have met every Tuesday for the last term and competed in an in house league.
Two leaders from our league qualified and represented Mortimer Primary School at the grand final of the league held at The Royal Grammar School in Newcastle on Saturday.
Our two competitors held their own against children from other schools and we were very proud of their efforts. Well done!
Y4 children are now at the end of week 3 of their fitness challenge. As well as stacking up the steps daily they also have to complete a weekly challenge. Last week was they had to design a game for the yard and this week they all made healthy wraps.
The challenge will continue until the end of this half term. Keep up the steps!!
Y5MS had a great day at Washington Old Hall when they recently visited. This was to compliment their history topic on the Tudors.
Well done to all our Y4 children, who have completed week one of the fitness challenge!
Many steps, many runs, many bounces on trampolines and much much more have taken place and Mortimer has maintained a high score on the leader board so far.
We have heard only good things about whole families taking extra walks, going for extra bike rides and swims and trying to be more active on an evening. The hard work is paying off!
Enjoy a well earned rest this weekend, save the steps for Monday when week two begins.
Here are a few pictures from this week.
