The children had the opportunity not just to handle the birds, but also to fly them!

Y6 had a fabulous afternoon with explorer and expedition leader Steve Berry to enhance their topic on Mountains of The World.
Local man Steve, is one of the few people in the world to have climbed the highest mountain on each of the seven continents. His knowledge and experience provides a priceless, first hand experience for the pupils.
They loved hearing his stories and anecdotes about surviving in some of the world’s toughest terrains and his message of ‘anything is possible when you apply your mind’ was inspirational to our young people.
A huge thank you to Steve for talking to our children.
The High 5 netball team were victorious in School Games Finals, which means they are South Tyneside champions and will go onto represent their borough in the North East High 5 Final at The Beacon of Light, Sunderland on the 28th March.

Five Year 5 children were given an exciting opportunity to take part in a workshop at The Word which was a follow up of the Match Day Experience from the South Shields vs Bamber Bridge football game. They watched highlights from the match, practised using their word processing skills to write it up then filmed their report! Children read from autocues while standing in front of green screens to give the impression of real match commentary. They were then shown how footage can be edited with music and special effects. What a great experience!
