27th November 2020Mr Bennett

27.11.20 Christmas & Birthdays

Christmas – Our latest newsletter is out today, covering the everything Christmas! Check out the parties, the cards and the children’s raffle!
  • Please note we have swapped Reception and Year 1 party dates!
Birthdays – we know that pupils have been unable to have birthday parties during the last few months. Therefore we will be setting time aside in school for pupils to have a little bit of birthday with their class mates. We will be catching up with September and October birthdays and then setting aside some time for November and December birthdays.
Please don’t send any sweets/cake in, as we are unable to share these to pupils. Thanks.

26.11.20 Communication

26th November 2020Mr Bennett

26.11.20 Communication

To further improve our communication, we will be using the Noticeboard facility on the ‘teacher2parents’ app. This is the service we use to text parents directly.

This will help parents, especially those who are not on social media, to know when new news/content/information has been shared.

It will give a short notice on what’s new, so you can decide if you need to check it out!

A text message will be sent out about this from the ‘teacher2parents’ app. Simply download the associated app and input your mobile phone number. If it is the number we have in school then your account will be linked.

In the app you will find school contact details and the term dates for the year.

We will continue to send letters where appropriate.

Our website front page is also getting an early spring clean so parents can see the latest news much easier.

n.b. our Christmas newsletter with all the info you need will be out on Friday.

*EDIT 23.11.20 Nursery & Reception COVID19 Positive Case

22nd November 2020Mr Bennett
*EDIT 23.11.20
Nursery & Reception COVID19 Positive Case
NURSERY – ALL 30 HOUR PUPILS
RECEPTION – RGB AND IDENTIFIED PUPILS FROM RKL AND RLN
Dear Parents and Carers,
There has been confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school in our Early Years setting and we need to update you with the following information.
We have carried out a full risk assessment having spoken to Local Authority Public Health Advisors.
The children who attend nursery for 30 hours and pupils in RGB – Miss Beattie, have been identified as in close contact with the case. In line with the national guidance we recommend that your child now stays at home and self-isolate until Saturday 5th December, when they may stop isolating. Your child must not go to school or any public areas: your child must remain at home. Further details of what your child needs to do are in NHS Guidance:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-for-coronavirus/nhs-test-and-trace-if-youve-been-in-contact-with-a-person-who-has-coronavirus/
All pupils are to return to school Monday 7th December.
Siblings of pupils in RGB and those children in RKL and RLN should attend school as normal, unless you have received a message to self isolate your child.
Siblings of 30 hour nursery pupils and those children who are morning or afternoon only, should attend school as normal.
Please take assurance that no children have tested positive.
We are asking you to do this to reduce the further spread of COVID 19 to others in the community. If you need support with isolation, please contact your local Council.
Other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the self-isolation period.
What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19
For most people, especially children, COVID-19 will be a mild illness.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of:
· new continuous cough and/or
· high temperature and/or
· a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
If your child develops any of these symptoms of COVID-19, they should remain at home and arrangements should be made for them to be tested. At that time all other household members must also stay at home, not go to work, school or public areas, even for exercise.
Testing can be arranged by calling 119 or via the NHS website: nhs.uk/coronavirus
When the result of the child’s test is known further advice will be available.
How to stop COVID-19 spreading
There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:
wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
wash your hands as soon as you get home
cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
Further information
Further information is available at nhs.uk/coronavirus
Yours sincerely
Mrs Cunningham
Headteacher

20.11.20 Latest Newsletter

The latest edition will be coming out with children today. There is plenty to catch up on and look forward to!
We will continue to update you with details about Christmas events as they get closer.
Some things that didn’t make it in time:
Chromebooks – we are expecting delivery in the first week of December. We will let you know asap once they arrive.
Christmas lunch order – on Christmas lunch day (9th Dec) a hot meal will need to be ordered, but the only option on the day will be Christmas lunch. So on Parent Pay it will not matter which option you choose for this day.

Bioartattack Competition

12th November 2020A Stelling

We have recently been made aware about the Bioartattack Competition run by the Royal Society of Biology and are inviting the children from Years 1 to 6 to enter. If you wish your child to take part, they need to create a piece of artwork/sculpture/collage around Science. The piece can be any size and use whatever materials they wish.

For full details please visit the Royal Society of Biology’s website.

https://www.rsb.org.uk/get-involved/biologyweek/bioartattack-competition

Your artwork needs to be handed into your child’s class teacher with the relevant information as specified in the competition guidelines on the website. Your child’s teacher will then photograph the artwork and submit the entry on behalf of your child.

All artwork must be given to your child’s class teacher by Wednesday 25th November which will allow the teacher time to photograph and submit the entry.

Good Luck!
