On Tuesday 2nd of July Mrs Allan’s class took part in the KS1 Outdoor Adventurous Activity Festival in the South Marine Park. In two teams, the children tackled the orienteering course around the park, working together to read the map collect clues and building materials. They then rescued a bear and built a house for him. As always their behaviour was exemplary and everyone had a fabulous afternoon.
Y6 had an amazing day at Beamish to complement their topic about World War Two. They experienced life on the farm during the war, they were treat like evacuees and completed cooking, home guard drills and black out preparations.
As always, our children were complemented on their excellent manners and behavior throughout the day. We would like to say thank you to the parents and relatives for dressing their children for the occasion.
Y6 enjoyed a Teddy Bear Picnic for Action Research in the glorious Sun today.
Thank you for all donations to this fantastic charity.
On Wednesday, 3rd July birds of prey experts came to visit year 4. They brought six birds with them, five owls and a falcon. We were told all sorts of interesting facts about the birds, including the fact that Florence Nightingale used to carry a Little Owl in her pocket! The children had the opportunity not just to handle the birds, but also to fly them!
Year 2 received letters from the Year 2 children at Harton Primary School telling them what they enjoyed doing at school and asking them questions about what our school is like. Here is a photo of year 2 reading their letters. They then wrote a reply letter.
On Monday 1st July, 20 children took place in the South Tyneside School Sport Network Years 3 and 4 Cricket Festival at Westoe Cricket Club. 10 schools from across the borough took part and the standard of sportsmanship was outstanding from all. A huge congratulations goes out to our group winners in Year 3 who won all of their games and to our team in Year 4 who won all but one of theirs. We would like to thank Westoe Cricket Club for hosting this year’s festival as well as all of the staff and young sport leaders who helped to organise and facilitate the day. Well done on a fantastic day of cricket!
