It was our last Science club this week and it involved making raisins dive! We carefully mixed some ingredients together to make a solution and dropped in some raisins. Not all of the raisins were feeling up to the challenge but eventually some of them started to dive! The children who have attended the club this half term have been nothing but a pleasure to work alongside. They have brought with them enquiring minds and a willingness to learn. We hope they have enjoyed themselves.
The Y5/6 children performed a fantastic Christmas Carol Concert at Westoe Methodist Church today for an audience of Y5 parents and relatives. Well done to all the children and the staff for their hardwork.
There will be a second show tomorrow afternoon for Y6 parents and relatives.
The Lego Club had a fantastic time at The Word for the First League LEGO Competition. They completed robot missions and shared their Into Orbit project with the judges. They performed exceptionally well and won the prize for ‘Best Teamwork.’ Mrs Stelling and Miss Anderson were very proud mentors.
Katie’s Garden came into school to work with some Y3 children after school. They had a great time making jars of slime.
Y6 started the party season at Mortimer Primary School today. A great day was had by all!
Last weeks Science club involved making bouncy balls and this weeks session looked at colour mixing. The children were excellent at predicting which colour would be made when two primary colours were mixed. Many of the children also returned to school their alligator they had been growing at home. The biggest one so far was a massive 32cm long!!
A selection of children from Year 1 have been to a Mini Tennis tournament this afternoon at Temple Park. The children took park in a range of activities to practice the necessary skills for playing tennis. One of the most popular activities was floor tennis, where the children had lots of fun practicing their hand eye coordination and “splatting” the ball.
