Cycle Safety

25th November 2014A Ogilvie

Over the last three weeks many of our year 4 and 5 children have taken part in our annual bike safety courses.

Children have brought their own bikes to school and worked with safety instructors to learn the basics for road safety awareness when they are cycling alone or playing out. They have also been taught invaluable skills on how to look after their bikes and make sure they are road ready.

Some of the year five children have advanced to moving onto the roads around our school. Great work from everyone! IMG_0981 IMG_0987 IMG_0988

Last week all three reception classes visited Cleadon Park Library. They enjoyed walking to the venue and then listened to one of the librarians read them a story. Here is a lovely picture of some children completing craft activities linked to the story.

Year 3 at the Open Zone!

20th November 2014A Ogilvie

Six Year 3 children worked with children from other schools at the Open Zone, St Wilfred’s RC College on Wednesday 19th November.

They worked with a local musician using African drums to learn rhythms and call and response songs. In workshop 2 they created short videos using iPads. They developed new skills and created a short movie using ‘iMovie’ and ‘I can animate’ software. The children can’t wait to share their new skills back at school. Children working at the open zone DSC01380

20th November 2014A Ogilvie

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Operation Christmas Child this year with donations of shoe boxes and sweets for our sweetie mountain. Once again, we are amazed by the generosity and kindness from the families at Mortimer Primary School.

Just a few of the shoeboxes donated for Operation Christmas Child.
