16.12.20 Could we be anymore Christmasy?
You’d better watch you better not cry, you’d better not pout I’m telling you why!
Santa Claus is coming to Mortimer!
Well technically he has already been…Nursery to year 2 got a visit and an early Christmas present today. Even the Grinch didn’t spoil things!
There were some stunned and excited faces!
Thanks Santa, now get some rest!
Our Year 1 and Year 2 children didn’t want to miss out on the fun either! Here are their Christmas messages for their families.
Christmas is one of the most magical times in school and one of the highlights of our calendar is sharing the Christmas walk-around with you to showcase your children’s work.
As with everything else, this year is slightly different, but here is a virtual tour of our Christmas wonderland.
We hope you enjoy it!
16.12.20 Height and weight checks for children in Reception and Year 6
Please read the following letter (below extract).
Extracts below.
“Each year in England, school children in Reception and Year 6 have their height and weight checked at school as part of the National Child Measurement Programme. Height and weight measurements are used to calculate weight status. Your child’s class will take part in this year’s programme…
…If you are happy for your child to be measured, you do not need to do anything.
If you do not want your child’s height and weight to be checked, or your child has a medical condition that affects their height or weight please let us know by contacting the school nursing team on 0191 2832947.
Children will not be made to take part on the day if they do not want to.”
A big thank you to everyone who donated to The Customs House collection.
We raised a grand total of £556.00. As a thank you they have sent this video for the children of our school.
16.12.20 Magic Andrew
We were so lucky to have a visit from Magic Andrew yesterday. He kindly put on 4 separate shows for Nursery, Reception, Years 1 & 2.
Everyone had a great time with another little bit of Christmas normality.

15.12.20 Not so Secret Santa !
A massive shout out to all of our staff who have raised £335 for the Hospitality and Hope charity which supports homeless and vulnerable people in our local area.
Instead of the usual secret Santa gift giving, staff decided that this year more than any other that it was the best decision to help others.
Here are our House Captains helping to bring in all the groceries we will be donating to their foodbank and soup kitchen.
Well done Mortimer!

Sadly, this year we couldn’t have our normal concerts and shows. However, Key Stage Two have worked on a project in their bubbles and proudly present to you “The Twelve Days of Christmas!”
We hope you enjoy it.
On the last day of term children are invited to swap their school jumper for their Christmas jumper once more.
Pupils are asked not to bring toys in this year but we will be making the day a special day! We have plenty of fun activities planned to bring this term to a great end.
