COVID19 Year 2 & 3 Update – Identified pupils only 26.9.20

26th September 2020Mr Bennett

26.9.20

COVID19 Year 2 & 3 Update – Identified pupils only

Dear Parents and Carers,

Further to our announcement (via text to identified pupils only) that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school, we need to update you with the following information.

We have carried out a full risk assessment having spoken to Local Authority Public Health Advisors.

The children, across years 2 and 3, have been identified as in close contact with the case. In line with the national guidance we recommend that your child now stays at home and self-isolate for 14 days after last contact. Your child must not go to school or any public areas: your child must remain at home. Further details of what your child needs to do are in NHS Guidance:

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-for-coronavirus/nhs-test-and-trace-if-youve-been-in-contact-with-a-person-who-has-coronavirus/

Parents will be contacted with their child’s end of isolation and return to school date.

We are asking you to do this to reduce the further spread of COVID 19 to others in the community. If you need support with isolation, please contact your local Council.

Other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the self-isolation period.

If your child is well at the end of the period of self-isolation, then they can return to usual activities.

All other children in Years 2 and 3 should attend school as normal.

The identified will children will be notified of their return date.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19

For most people, especially children, COVID-19 will be a mild illness.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of:

new continuous cough and/or

high temperature and/or

a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

If your child develops any of these symptoms of COVID-19, they should remain at home and arrangements should be made for them to be tested. At that time all other household members must also stay at home, not go to work, school or public areas, even for exercise.

Testing can be arranged by calling 119 or via the NHS website: nhs.uk/coronavirus

When the result of the child’s test is known further advice will be available.

How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:

wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds

use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

wash your hands as soon as you get home

cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze

put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

Further information is available at nhs.uk/coronavirus

Please note that we do have contact numbers; they had not been transferred into the messaging system which works separately.
Thank you to all parents who helped in such a short time span and continue to support us as we keep school moving forward.

21.9.20 – Year 5

Year 5 Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Further to our announcement that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school, we need to update you with the following information.

We have carried out a full risk assessment having spoken to Public Health and Local Authority advisors.

The Year 5 children have not been identified as in close contact and therefore they do not need to make any change to their usual routine, including school attendance.

We therefore will reopen school to Year 5 pupils from Tuesday 22nd September. This allows a deep clean to take place across the classrooms as a precaution today. We thank you for your cooperation and keeping your children off school.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of a new continuous cough and/or a high temperature and/or a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia). If your child, or anyone in your household, develops these symptoms, your whole household must remain at home and not go to work, school or public areas. You should arrange testing for the person who has developed symptoms. When the result is known further advice will be available.

Testing can be arranged by calling 119 or via the NHS website: nhs.uk/coronavirus

How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things we can all do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:

Important Update – 20.9.20

20th September 2020Mr Bennett
Dear Parents and Carers,
Please be advised that one of our lunchtime staff has a confirmed case of COVID-19.
After notification from the staff member today, we have made the difficult but important decision to keep Year 5 pupils off school tomorrow (Monday 21st September). This includes all year 5 classes: 5PM, 5HA and 5AM.
This decision has been made in order to keep our school community safe. Once school reopens in the morning, we will be able to liaise fully with Public Health and the Local Authority team then determine the right course of action.
We will notify you again tomorrow as soon as we can, indicating whether your child can return to school on Tuesday, or whether they need to self-isolate for 14 days. Please do bear with us, and we will have more information for you asap, when we hope that the majority of Year 5 pupils can return on Tuesday. All other year groups remain unaffected.
My sincere apologies for the Sunday notice, but we were keen let parents know promptly.
