South Tyneside Back to School Games

7th July 2020A Stelling

Many of our year groups have been taking part in South Tyneside’s Back to school games. Monday involved a variety of jumps that had to be measured accurately and Tuesday’s tasks had a lot of core challenges.

Here are some of our year 1, 2 and year 5 pupils in action.

Week 16 – A Letter from Mrs Cunningham (Tuesday)

7th July 2020A Stelling

Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here again.

Today’s Topic is  International Chocolate day which is today. I’m not expecting a Ripple of laughter, maybe just a little Snicker. We’ll just Wispa that as we don’t want everyone getting too hungry. Someone is Bounty come up with something funnier. You lot being so Smartie pants. Get your thinking caps on and lets see who can make a Quality street joke. You know you are my Heroes! It won’t be a Picnic in the park as I’ve got a few Twix up my sleeve. By the time your’e finished, you might need some Time Out. Don’t spend too long. I really only want a minute of your Dime. Go on, give it a Twirl.

Have a Treat Tuesday,

Mrs Cunningham

Week 16 – A letter from Mrs Cunningham (Monday)

6th July 2020A Stelling
Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here again.

I hope you have all had a good weekend. It feels like more things are getting back to normal. The government has said that we can go abroad on holiday now. I know lots of people, including me, are looking forward to that. However, I went on a windy walk yesterday and took a few pictures. I think if you did not recognise the places as being South Shields, you would possibly think that you could be anywhere! We all should appreciate what is right here.  There is absolutely no place like home.
Have a marvellous Monday,
Mrs Cunningham

Sydney, the stay safe snake

3rd July 2020A Stelling

Our EYFS Key Workers’ Bubble had a fantastic morning placing their decorated pebbles in the Redhead Park.

We counted over 200 pebbles now along the body of Sydney, the stay safe snake. We noted all the different colours and spotted a few other Mortimer pebbles along the body. We even had time for a few games on the grass.

A lovely community art project started by one of our very own Year 1 pupils.

A great time was had by all.

Week 15 – A letter from Mrs Cunningham (Friday)

3rd July 2020A Stelling

Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here.

Tonight on my way home I heard a story on the radio which I could not believe, so when I got home I Googled it and sure enough it is true. NASA has made a perfume called Eau De Space! Back in 2008 Nasa contacted a chemist called Steve Pearce, who started work to develop the fragrance.

Using details from astronauts who described the space smell, Pearce used his knowledge of fragrance chemistry to produce a perfume that matched those descriptions.

Now a company is trying to sell it as a perfume so we can all experience the unique smell for ourselves. Now what does space smell like? A  mix of fireworks, steak and raspberries. Nice! Eugh!

I think I will stick to my normal perfume!

Have a fragrant Friday.
Mrs Cunningham

Week 15 – A letter from Mrs Cunningham (Thursday)

2nd July 2020A Stelling
Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here again.
We have a new vegetable patch in our school garden. I went to have a little look at it today and as  I was approaching it I thought the broccoli had shot up though the soil. But it was NOT broccoli. It was a FROG! He jumped over the carrot tops and away into the pond.
Enjoy the Frog poem I found.
Have a thoughtful Thursday.

1st July 2020Mr Bennett

1.7.20 Update of pupil places

Dear all,
thanks for your help in signing up for the different routes of care. It has been a little tricky to place everyone but we are nearly there.
Tomorrow (Thursday 2nd)
Texts will be sent to:

Priority Years

    • Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 parents.
    • Your text will list which group your child is in for the final two weeks (just next week for year 6).
    • For most this will be the same as you have accessed.
    • New returners will be placed where possible.
  • Start and finish times may change and we will explain these this week.

Phase Three Return

  • Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 parents.
  • Your text will list which group your child is in for your two days.
  • Group 1 is Monday & Tuesday. Group 2 is Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Years 3 and 5 wb 6th July only
  • Years 2 and 4 wb 13th July only
  • We have tried to keep siblings (who are in priority years) on similar days but this may not always have been possible.
  • Children have been grouped by their teacher and in friendship groups.
  • Details of uniform, start and finish times etc will be shared this week.

Key workers

  • Please assume that your request has been accepted and your child can attend the key workers provision for the days needed.
  • If you need to confirm your days then speak to me when dropping off or picking up.
  • You won’t receive a text as the take up is so varied.
  • We will have to tweak our system slightly for the last two weeks with so many more pupils in and we will let you know these this week.
Thanks for your support. I appreciate that things are difficult to follow but we will soon be sorted for the final two weeks in school.
