Week 9 – A letter from Mrs Cunningham (Monday)

18th May 2020A Stelling

Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here again,

This is the sun story which I was going to tell you on Friday. Did you know that the sun is actually a star? It’s also the nearest star to Earth, that’s why it looks so big! It is really a ball of fire! It takes eight minutes for light to travel from the Sun to Earth. The Sun is so large, Earth could fit inside it a million times. Without the Sun, the Earth would have no heat and no light. The plants would not grow, so animals would have nothing to eat, so we would have nothing to eat. Without the Sun, the Earth would be a very cold place. Now listen to the song.

Why would people sing this song? Have you ever been playing outside when the sun has suddenly gone in? Everyone looks at the sky and pulls their coats around them. Have you ever been outside when the Sun has suddenly appeared? We all suddenly feel much better.
Now you know, Mrs Cunningham’s assemblies always have a meaning, and this is not all about the sun!

It is about you. People can also bring light and warmth to those around us. By showing people that we care, by treating them with respect, by listening to them and encouraging them, we can make people feel very happy.
Sometimes people can feel sad, as if a dark cloud is blocking out the sunshine in their lives. YOU can help move that cloud and bring light and happiness to them. Just a smile, a cuddle, a Thank You or a ‘I Love you’ is that sunshine you can bring. Give it a go today.

Have a mad Monday

Mrs Cunningham

Week 8 – A letter from Mrs Cunningham (Friday)

15th May 2020A Stelling

Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here again.

Today I had a story about the sunshine. However, my Louise thought she had a better idea. So this is from her.

Have a wonderful weekend. I am with you, with this letter.

Week 8 – A letter from Mrs Cunningham (Thursday)

14th May 2020A Stelling

Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here again.

I loved your choice of musicals from Tuesday. I have watched nearly all of them. What great choices!
I have been learning how to do Zoom meetings lately. I had a Zoom meeting yesterday with Mr Bennett. Guess who else wanted to join? Yes, you’ve guessed it….Sammy. I had to put him in the garden, so he jumped up on the window sill and stared at me. I honestly think he feels he should have been included. I then went for a little walk after work. The sky was blue and the sea had lots of waves and white horses. There were a few others out walking and on bikes too. Hopefully you will be able to get out for a little walk or even a bike ride with your family.
See you all soon and have a Thoroughly Thrilling Thursday.

Week 8 – A letter from Mrs Cunningham (Wednesday)

13th May 2020A Stelling

Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here again.

Now you know how much I like all things maths. Numbers, puzzles, problems and facts. I was reading a few yesterday and thought I would share a few with you. They are kind of rainbow in the clouds and  are all good number facts that have come about since lockdown. So did you know:36% of people are exercising more. 39% of people have contacted their family more often and 40% of people have said they have spoken to their neighbours for the first time. There are dolphins in Venice and swans in Milan for the first time.Carbon dioxide levels have fallen by 40% making the air cleaner that it has been in a long time. Moles, who are usually very secretive little animals have been spotted out and about. Thousands of turtles have reclaimed the beaches in Brazil, while a group of goats have taken over a town in Wales and a herd of deer have taken to a patch of grass in the middle of London. Look up at the sky tonight, because of the clean air we apparently can see more stars than usual… about 3,000!! Wow.
Have a wondrous Wednesday.

Week 8: A letter from Mrs Cunningham (Tuesday)

12th May 2020A Stelling

Hello again it’s Mrs Cunningham here again.

I’m sure you are all the same and have had a few debates with your family over the last few weeks. Yesterday in the Cunningham house, was ‘Name your favourite musical song’, Mr Cunningham could not choose but eventually decided on ‘something you will find out later.  Rachel’s is Les Miserables ‘Do you Hear the People Sing”.  Louise couldn’t decide between any Mama Mia song so she wanted them all. Sammy wanted The Circle of Life. Mine is Oliver Twist, “Who will buy?”

11.5.20 Update

11th May 2020Mr Bennett

11.5.20 Update

Following the announcement last night, we await the promised additional guidance from the government and Mrs Cunningham will be meeting with local authority advisors tomorrow.
Based upon the information given, we will then form a plan for the phased reopening of the school, if safe to do so, from the 1st June.
We will keep you up to date on this process and the implications of any potential reopening for reception, year 1 and year 6.
Currently, we remain open ONLY for key worker families, where keeping children at home is not possible.
Thanks for your continuing support in these challenging times.
Stay safe.

Week 8: A letter from Mrs Cunningham (Monday)

11th May 2020A Stelling

Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here again.

I hope you have all had a good weekend. It was the VE Day Celebrations on Friday. Miss Middleton was in charge of school and along with the other teachers that day, she organised an ‘old fashioned 1940’s party’. I popped in for lunch. Mrs Davies made an old fashioned tea party with jelly and ice cream and  camouflage biscuits too. Did you have a street party? I did. We all had to sit in our own driveways. We had scones with cream and jam. There was music, a quiz and a game where we had to make a paper plane and fly it the furthest. The best bit was when we all sang together. The song was ‘We’ll Meet  Again’, it was originally sung by a lady called Vera Lynn for the people during the war, to make sure everyone knew that we would all be together and see each other again, but no one knew exactly when. I think that message is so important today. We will all be together again, you will all be playing in the yard with your friends, going to birthday parties, seeing your nanas and grandas and doing your after school clubs, but we are not sure when. Vera Lynn is 103 and has lived through lots of things. If anyone knows what she is talking about, it is her!
Have a marvellous Monday

10.5.20 Quick Update

10th May 2020Mr Bennett
I hope you’ve have a lovely weekend despite the challenges of the situation. Just a few things to mention…
There have been issues with the Free School Meal voucher website. The website would not accept Monday or Tuesday’s date so vouchers have been uploaded for Wednesday. So please don’t panic if you don’t receive your vouchers till then. Apologies but the system is out of our control.
As we all wait for Boris to deliver his update this evening, let me remind you that we will continue to update you as soon as we can with any changes to the service we can offer. In the mean time, thank you for only using our service where absolutely necessary. We are primed to continue the new normal service next week.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Thanks for your continuing support.
Stay safe.

Week 7 – A letter from Mrs Cunningham (Friday)

8th May 2020A Stelling

Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here again.

How are lunchtimes in your houses? Mine start at about 10.30 with my girls asking what is for lunch? I have been in touch with your lovely lunchtime assistants and they have shared a few stories with me.

Miss Curtis is missing your hugs but has been keeping herself busy by doing lots of walking.

Mrs Scott says she is missing all of her lovely nursery children! She hopes you are all eating your dinners at home as much as you do at school! It’s fishy Friday today and she knows how much you all love fishy Fridays! She’s been very busy making and colouring in flags with her two sons for VE Day and baking cakes. She says stay safe and she hopes she will see you all soon.

Miss Hart has been sunbathing and is looking forward to seeing you all.

Mrs Taylor (with the dark hair) has been reading books and taking her dog Ollie out for walks. She told me that he ate a sock and the vet had to make him better. YUK, imagine eating a sock?

Mrs Townsend is missing all of your cute faces and hopes you are keeping busy playing on your bikes, cooking and enjoying time with your mams and dads. She has been walking Ruby her dog along with Emily her daughter.

Mrs Taylor (the blonde one) has been enjoying watching you all on face book and missing Mrs Catchpole’s class wondering which Mrs Taylor it is and Mrs Peacock’s class and Miss Beatie’s dancing around. Mrs Taylor’s son is 16 today so they are having a BBQ. She has walked her dog Miley with her granddaughter Heidi. She misses you all.

Mrs Dykes is missing Year 2. But she has been busy cycling, reading and doing lots of puzzles. She really misses you all.

Mrs Bailey is missing all of Year 3. So far she has read two books and just started her third and is going to continue reading as she had forgotten how good it is. Mr Bailey is doing the homework while she has been walking and has had a busy day baking for her VE day tomorrow. She is looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Mrs Foster is missing her lovely Y4 Children and wonders if you have grown taller. I bet you have. She has been catching up on jobs that she has been putting off . She says to keep smiling and that she loves you all and will see you soon.

Mrs Brotherton has been missing all of the children and has been riding on her bike to stay fit, and taking Chloe and Pippa with her! She has been trying very hard to keep up with the girls’ school work, and has learnt some new things herself!

Mrs Morgan, Mrs Cummings, Mrs Brown, Mrs Meeks and Miss Maddison all send their wishes too and are really missing playing on the yard and the all weather pitch with you, and can’t wait to see you all.

Happy lunchtime and give your lovely dinner ladies a thought.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Mrs Cunningham
