Judging by their first week, this group show some great promise!
We thought we would incorporate our tree party with a spot of bird watching this week. Mrs Mackay’s maths group have taken part in the Big Schools’ BirdWatch for the RSPB and when we had finished twitching we decided to have our tree party. The children chatted about the types of trees in our local park and enjoyed eating their snacks. We also discussed the importance of ensuring our rubbish went in the bin and not into the environment. The data was brought back to school where we will log it with the RSPB and also use it do complete some statistics work on.
Our Year 4 Lego League had their first meeting tonight. They are beginning a journey to compete in the First Lego League Junior Competition.

A great first session, well done team!
Our school has worked so hard and are currently sitting on 12 points and a silver award. One of the activities we have been involved in is a discussion on lowering the school’s carbon emissions. School Council have proposed ideas such as ensuring lights are switched off, not leaving chargers on in school unnecessarily and also requesting that parents and carers switch off their engines while they are waiting in the school car park.
Year 5 held a cake sale on Friday to raise money for the Australia Appeal. They raised a total of £215.30. Thank you for your generous donations of cakes, biscuits and money.
Year 4 children this term are enjoying sessions with ‘Science Buddies’ to compliment their studies on ‘States of matter’.
During the sessions the children discuss changing states of particles, complete a number of experiments and get to make their own slime to bring home and share with their families at the end of the session.
Mrs Stelling’s class and Mrs Shaw’s class both thought this session was excellent!
Mrs Shearer’s class are very excited for their visit next week.
