Changes to children’s A&E services at South Tyneside District Hospital from Monday 5 August.
Last week, our Year 3 children visited Waterstones in Newcastle to purchase new books for our Key Stage Two library. The children participated in a book recommendation workshop before looking around the shop to select a book of their choice. The children put a great deal of thought into their selections and tried really hard to buy a fantastic range of books to appeal to children across the juniors. Every child had the experience of purchasing their chosen book over the counter before carrying them back to school to be put on our library shelves. We are all very excited to see the books being borrowed and enjoyed by our Key Stage Two children from September.
Y4 visited West Boldon Lodge as part of their science topic ‘Living things and their Habitats’. They had a brilliant time pond dipping, meadow sweeping, mini-beast hunting and marshmallow toasting!
Graduation day for our School Direct students. It has been a very quick year for our trainees who have applied themselves fully in our partner schools across the borough. All six trainees achieved QTS and celebrated today with their family and friends at Sports Central. Everyone at Mortimer Primary Teaching School wishes them every success with their future careers. We would also like to say a special thank you to all of the mentors and teaching staff who have worked to shape our trainees into teachers.
A lucky band of Y4 children had an amazing day at Temple Park on the 26th June. They took part in a carousel of activities including: dance, cheer leading, tennis, skipping and parkour. They were ably assisted by pour excellent Y5 Change 4 Life champions.
A lucky selection of our Year 4 children participated in a workshop entitled “Where did all of the animals go?” in March this year. The exhibition has been sponsored by the Born Free Foundation to raise awareness about animals which are endangered or in some cases almost extinct.
The children thoroughly enjoyed Sports Day this year which was held on July 1st. The children compete in a variety of competitive games including old favourites such as the egg and spoon and sack race. The day as ever ends with the year group sprints.
What a year for sport at Mortimer Primary School.
We are very proud of our young athletes, who have excelled in so many sports across the authority!
