The Lego Club had a fantastic time at The Word for the First League LEGO Competition. They completed robot missions and shared their Into Orbit project with the judges. They performed exceptionally well and won the prize for ‘Best Teamwork.’ Mrs Stelling and Miss Anderson were very proud mentors.
Katie’s Garden came into school to work with some Y3 children after school. They had a great time making jars of slime.
Y6 started the party season at Mortimer Primary School today. A great day was had by all!
Last weeks Science club involved making bouncy balls and this weeks session looked at colour mixing. The children were excellent at predicting which colour would be made when two primary colours were mixed. Many of the children also returned to school their alligator they had been growing at home. The biggest one so far was a massive 32cm long!!
A selection of children from Year 1 have been to a Mini Tennis tournament this afternoon at Temple Park. The children took park in a range of activities to practice the necessary skills for playing tennis. One of the most popular activities was floor tennis, where the children had lots of fun practicing their hand eye coordination and “splatting” the ball.
Y6 thoroughly enjoyed a presentation from our Community Police Team Officers, Darren and Steven. They brought with them a very serious message about bullying. Discussing very relevant topics such as prevention, talking about bullying and helping others who may be targeted.
We have recently been working with Newcastle Eagles. The programme we are involved in consists of coaching, tournaments and a roadshow for our Year 5 and Year 6 children. The boys and girls in Year 5 have been thoroughly enjoying the sessions that have taken place.
