Y4 had a wonderful Ancient Greek day! The children looked fantastic in their costumes- from the hoplites to the gods and goddesses. They acted out their favourite myths, sampled a variety of traditional Greek food and worked in groups to design and make their own version of The Parthenon. The following day, they competed in The Mortimer Olympic Games, which included sprints, discuss and chariot racing.
Here are a few photos from our Year 6 Leavers’ Party. A great time was had by all!

Over the past few weeks, 4HA have been making stress balls as part of their Virgin Money Make £5 Grow Scheme. They used a funnel to fill balloons with flour, tied them then designed emoji faces for them. They sold these,as well as keyrings and bookmarks, to the junior children, making a profit of £141. The profit will be used to purchase school resources. A very successful business venture!
In Y2 the children have been reading a range of fantasy stories and decided to end the topic with a day dressed as their favourite character. Don’t they look fantastic in their costumes.
Reception had their own mini sports morning this week and enjoyed doing many team events which tested their speed, balance, agility and team working skills.
Great work Reception!
Mortimer A Team comfortably won their group in the Bart Rippon Cup played on Friday 6th of July at Mortimer Community College. They were unlucky in their semi final against St Aloyisius but managed a victory in their final game against Bedeburn to finish in third place. Well done boys.
On Friday 6th July 12 children from Year 4 accompanied Mrs Shaw and Mrs Smithwhite to Sandhaven Beach at South Shields to take part in a North East sandcastle competition. The theme was ‘Star Struck: Explore the Cosmos’ and so it was decided to construct the solar system using both sand and paint. The children had a fantastic time taking part in this and were delighted with their final design. Well done to all children who took part.
