Mrs Batson’s class were inspired to investigate which materials float when a pupil brought in a model boat made from toilet roll tubes and an egg box! They tested out a variety of materials and had a lot of fun doing it.
Y6 enjoyed a visit following the route of the River Tyne from Newburn back to the Mouth of the River in South Shields.
Congratulations to the netball A and B teams who came first and second place in the South Tyneside High 5 Netball League. Well done to all of the players who represented the school fantastically well and thank you to all of the parents who came to show their support.
As part of School Fitness Week, Year 4 children were given a fantastic opportunity to participate in a live Youtube feed of The Joe Wicks School Workout at Mortimer Community College. They thoroughly enjoyed this session with ‘The Body Coach’, which involved a 20 minute live workout.
In Year 4, children have been learning about Africa. Pupils had a chance to sample a range of tropical fruits grown in Africa including watermelon, honeydew melon, bananas, pineapple and mango. Healthy and delicious!
Congratulations to our A team for winning the Snowdon League. For those interested in statistics, we were six points ahead of our nearest rivals and our goal difference was 29. We won 7 of our games and drew our eighth. The team will now go on to represent their league at the Champions League event that is taking place on Monday 25th June 1:00-3:00 at the Academy of Light.
Our B team have had a bit of a tough season but have kept their heads high. We were delighted that they ended their last set of fixtures with a 1-0 win against Westoe Crown.
Miss Anderson’s class were brilliant today in their class assembly, which was about Sound, The Ear and How We Hear. Thank you again to all the parents who showed their support.
