As part of their English/geography cross-curricular fortnight , Year 4 are writing a persuasive brochure about Kenya. They had the opportunity to try food grown in Kenya, such as mango, avocado, dates, apricots, pineapple and mangetout.
Our High 5 netball teams played in the South Tyneside School Games yesterday. The A team won all of their games, winning gold medals and qualifying for the South Tyneside Finals which will take place at the end of February. The B team also played extremely well and just missed out on qualifying, coming a very respectable fourth place.
On Tuesday 7th January as part of the programme we are participating in with the Newcastle Eagles, our Year 5 children were joined by members of the team. The professional players delivered a roadshow within the school aimed at teaching the value of a healthy lifestyle incorporating short seminars, practical sessions and fun games. The children thoroughly enjoyed their day with these ‘giants’ of their game.
Foundation and KS1 children enjoyed a special treat yesterday when Andrew the Magician performed his annual, magical spectacular! Here are just a few pictures from the show.
All KS2 children received a true treat today when theatre company, Artyfacts, visited our school and performed a special WW1 themed play.
This play introduced children to the topic and will be used as a foundation to a special Literacy week for Year 6 next year which is in connection to Remembrance Day and 100 years since the end of the Great War.
Y6 had a very informative morning at the Fire Station this morning when they received micro-workshops to help prevent accidents in their home and social life.
They received workshops from the RNLI, Northern Gas, Fire Safety, School Nurses (Drug and Alcohol Awareness), NEXUS and train safety and staying safe when out and about at night in a dark environment.
The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the morning’s activities.
A big thank you to Mrs Miller and Mrs Taylor for helping our Y6 children to bake in preparation for their VE Day celebration party to mark the end of their topic on World War Two.
