Mortimer Primary School
Excellence for all
2MS – 23.12.22
Dear parents/carers,
For the Spring term, Mrs Silvanus will step away from afternoon classroom duties with 2MS. Her roles within SEND and pastoral care take up a lot of her time and we want to ensure the very best for your child and the rest of the class.
From January 2023, children in 2MS will be taught by Miss Shirlow in the afternoon lessons. Mrs Martin will continue to lead the class on a morning.
She is excited to join the Mortimer team and to teach the children. I’m sure they will enjoy being in her lessons.
As she is new to the school, we will organise an opportunity for parents to meet Miss Shirlow early in the term. We will send details of this event to you in the first week back in January.
Thank you for your continuing support and have a very merry Christmas.
Mr Bennett

International Party!

21st December 2022Miss A Marshall

To celebrate the World Cup, the children were invited to do some research about a country that was taking part. The children have produced some fabulous posters and PowerPoint presentations which are displayed along the corridor in school.

Some children were then chosen to attend an International Party where they sampled different foods from around the world. German pretzels, polish sausage and wasabi peas from Japan were some of the favourites. Not forgetting the escargot (snails) from France. An excellent time was had by all!

Y6 Computing Enrichment

29th November 2022A Stelling

This half term Year 6 pupils enjoyed visits from Mrs Hayward and Mr Roberts, who are computing specialist teachers based at The Word.

The pupils developed their digital drawing skills and designed baubles, which will later be made into wooden creations. They also used Scratch to code digital interactive Christmas message cards. Check out some of their work!

The children thoroughly enjoyed their days and can’t wait to continue their learning within their own classes.

A huge thank you for their visit and sharing these special skills with our pupils.

Mrs Hayward with some of our Year 6 pupils.
