A huge congratulations to our Y5/6 lego club who took part in the Regional Finals of the First Lego League hosted by ICT in Schools at The Word held at South Shields Museum.
This was a very tough competition consisting of many elements including programing a robot to complete tricky challenges on an obstacle board, a technical round to explain coding of the robot, an unseen team work round and a presentation about a project that they have researched and developed a solution to. Many of the elements of the competition scoring are based around fundamentals of communication and team work.
We can proudly say that our team brought home a trophy for best presentation, they had researched a problem and came up with a solution to help reduce water wastage from taps.
The competition on the day was fierce with our children competing not only against primary school children but also secondary schools.
It was a fully packed day but they still managed to sneak in time for an ice-cream as a reward for their hard work and a look around the museum.
As always, we were very proud of our children, their behaviour, attitude and team work skills were all commented on by other schools and a team of judges; they were excellent ambassadors for our school. Well done Mortimer Master Builders!Ā
