This morning our Y4 pupils delivered their hand made bird boxes to the Friends of the Readhead Park and South Tyneside Council, who will now place them on designated trees around the park. A tree specialist has conducted a survey to say where the boxes would be best situated.
All materials were supplied by the Friends of the Readhead Park and, along with the 26 created for the park, we now have aĀ number of boxes to be placed around our own outside area too.
This project enriched the pupils’ science curriculum about habitats and many of the children have said this was one of their favourite activities of the year.
The children discovered an area of the park that is ear-marked to become a habitat area for minibeasts and other creatures. Year 4 will now be creating plans and designs which they will send to the developers.
All our bird boxes have a number in “Mortimer Blue” underneath them, can you find all 26?
