A huge well done to our Lego team 2019, The Mortimer Master Movers.

They have worked for nearly four months on a huge project called ‘City Movers’ which concluded today in their regional final at The Word, organised by the ICT in Schools team.

The children prepared for three huge tasks today: core values, a presentation on a local study and the technical round.

Their core values round involved working as a group to create a well known monument or building.

The children prepared and presented a project about creating a new building for the Holborn Development in South Shields.

The technical round had been rehearsed for weeks in school. They programmed a robot to complete many tasks around a board set with obstacles. Gaining entry to the semi-finals, our year five team came a very respectable third.

Miss Anderson and Mrs Stelling were very proud of this young team, they competed against seven other schools, some of which were comprehensive age children. Their attitude, commitment and enthusiasm for the day was fantastic and they were excellent ambassadors for our school. Their dedication to this competition since September was commendable and as the Lego saying goes, they found that they were ‘stronger when they work together!’

Great work Mortimer Master Movers!

Thank you to ICT in Schools at The Word for hosting today and for their support throughout this competition.
