Our Governing Board
Welcome to the Governors’ page for Mortimer Primary School. Our Governing Board is committed to ensuring that every child at our school receives an excellent education in a safe and supportive environment.
The Governing Board is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the school and has three core functions:
- Setting the strategic direction of the school.
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Committees of the Governing Board
To ensure the efficient and detailed operation of the school’s governance, the main Governing Board delegates specific work to a number of sub-committees.
The current committees are:
- Finance & Pay Review: Focuses on budget management, financial planning, and staff pay structures.
- Staffing: Deals with matters relating to school personnel, recruitment, and HR policies.
- Pupil Discipline: Reviews and makes decisions on serious pupil discipline matters if required.
- Appeals Committee: Hears formal appeals regarding various governance decisions.
