Sports premium is government funding for primary schools in England to improve the quality of their physical education (PE), physical activity, and sport provision. This “ring-fenced” money must be spent on developing PE and sport, and it can be used for things like hiring specialist coaches, improving equipment, running sports competitions, and providing professional development for teachers. The goal is to improve children’s health, wellbeing, and academic achievement by increasing their participation in physical activity.
