Hello everyone, it’s Mrs Cunningham here again.

I hope you are all well and enjoyed the weekend. It was a year ago since the 30th anniversary celebrations. So Mortimer Primary has just had its 31st birthday. Can you remember all the preparations we did before the big day. We made banners and flags in school. Can you remember when the older children had a younger child to look after and the one big rule was DO NOT LET GO OF THEIR HAND. I was really worried about so many things. Then when I thought I’d worried about everything I could worry about, I discoveredΒ  it was bin day on Mortimer Road!

On the Friday morning, the sun was out, the sky was blue, the bins had been emptied early, the road was closed, the piper was ready and so were we. Off we went. There were so many parents all the way along Mortimer Road and so many residents looking out of their windows. All the way to the end of Mortimer Road, then all the way back to school. Then we sang Happy Birthday to Mortimer. Can you remember the afternoon we enjoyed having a huge picnic in the sun.Β

What a lovely day! I’m sure there will be lots more celebrations to look forward to when things get back to normal.

Remember to keep an eye on your school work and keep the reading going. The photos of the book covers were great. I was really impressed and some of them made me chuckle. Can you imagine what my neighbours were thinking as I climbed into the tree for my photo? Haha. If you have not seen them, have a look on the website.

Have a marvellous Monday. As our Monday song goes, ‘We’re in it together today.’
