As an introduction to Year 4’s science topic ‘Living Things and their Habitats’, pupils were given the opportunity to learn about owls and how they have adapted to survive in the wild. They were also able to hold and fly the birds.
Over the first two weeks of this half term our foundation children will all have access to a session of coding supplied by local company, Techy Tots. Specialising in computing for early years, Techy Tots bring a huge variety of equipment for our children to use, explore and learn from.
Much fun was had by all!
All Y6 classes will be receiving expert Tennis coaching this term from Boldon Tennis Club. Both children and teachers are thoroughly enjoying the sessions.
A great start from our new Y2 Lego Club members working alongside our Y5/6 Lego Club members and finding out how to work with ‘Lego Wedo’. They all did a great job creating an alligator and making the mouth move.
Y6 were left inspired today after a fantastic video conference link with local author, Niel Bushnell.
Along with three other schools, the children had the chance to listen to how he became a writer and find out what inspired him. There was also opportunities to ask questions and discuss his other work as an animator and game creator.
A huge thank you to ICT in Schools at The Word for this opportunity.
Year 5KM enjoying their coastal walk looking at features of coastal erosion.
A big well done to our Y6 as they come to the end of assessment week. A well deserved movie afternoon with snacks was enjoyed by all.
We are very proud of you all!
Police Constables Steve and Darren paid a special visit to our Y3 classes this week to explain some of the different jobs they do. The children had lots of very interesting questions to ask and some of them were delighted to have the chance to wear pieces of uniform, or even try out the handcuffs for size. Thankfully the policemen did find the key by home time!
A big thank you to Steve and Darren.
