RMP enjoyed a lovely morning visiting St Peter’s Church in Harton Village.
Reception have been learning all about lots of people who help us in the community. As part of their topic, a local lifeguard came to talk to them about how to stay safe around water and who is there to help them if they are in trouble.
The children loved the afternoon and had lots of fun trying on the lifeguard uniform and sharing their swimming stories.
Reception had a lovely afternoon yesterday celebrating the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth.
Jam sandwiches, crowns and juice were on the menu and fun was had by all in our outside theatre.
We are always proud of how well our children work together across the year groups. As a large school, Mortimer Primary encourages our older children to help younger children when they can.
Here are some photos of our volunteer Y6 children using 15 minutes of their day to work with reception children to help improve their knowledge of letters, sounds and words.

Some of our reception children were selected before half term to attend Temple Park and complete a morning of mixed skilled activities.
They worked with young sport leaders completing many tasks that involved team work and co-operation, which also developed communication skills. (more…)
